Potluck Church Tonight
Potluck Church is tonight (Tuesday) at 5:30 pm. The theme this month is “comfort foods”. You are invited to bring some food to share, and (if you wish) you can share a story about food that elicits warm feelings in you. These informal evenings are intergenerational and open to all.

Maritime Conference
The annual meeting of Maritime Conference of the United Church of Canada, involving all clergy and congregational representatives from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Gaspésie and Bermuda, was held this past weekend in Sackville, NB. Our congregation’s representatives were Dr. Helga Mills and Marg Arklie, along with Rev. Betsy Hogan, Rev. Bob Mills, Rev. Karen Pearce and John Pearce. Allison Etter, who served at St. Matthew’s for her student placement, was ordained at the meeting.

Pastoral Care invitation
Part of the Christian calling is to care for one another with friendship and compassion, especially in time of need. We undertake this responsibility with those close to us every day, but at St. Matthew’s the Pastoral Care Team also keeps in regular contact with members of our congregation who may be ill, shut-in, bereaved, or otherwise in need of friendship. Contact is by phone, email, Fellowship time chats, and personal visits – and we would like to do more. Would you be interested in making one monthly contact in a ministry of friendship and care? Members of the Team support each other and are assisted by the minister. Contact Rev. Betsy Hogan if this interests you as a way of supporting St. Matthew’s.

Congregational workshop June 26
St. Matthew’s will have a strong, sustainable and faithful future in downtown Halifax, but what will it look like? How will we get there? Plan to attend a congregational workshop on the afternoon of Sunday, June 26 to explore ideas. Rev. Hal Llewellyn and Rev. Karen Llewellyn will host the workshop and share some of their experiences in change ministry. More details soon from the planning team that includes Dora Stinson, Paul Bowlby, Mike Tremblay, and Laura Stiles-Clark.

Photo Exhibition deadline June 3

Friday, June 3 is the closing date for registration to exhibit photos at our Summer Art Exhibition on July 22–23. For information contact Johan Geldenhuys, 429-4973 or johan@jgeldenhuys.com

Grandmotherly Walk
There will be a national walk by various groups across Canada raising money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign. The walk will take place on June 12, and there is a Team Halifax that features the Rockingham Grannies. You can contribute online to this fundraising effort by clicking on this link: http://tinyurl.com/3fd9tej For donations of $20 or more, you will get an immediate tax receipt by email. The Rockingham Grannies recently reported that they have sent $52,200 to the national campaign since 2008.
