If you work downtown – or know people who do – please mark Thursdays on your calendar and tell everyone you know. Our popular noon-hour concerts happen at 12:15 pm on Thursdays during July and August. Bring your lunch and enjoy great music by established and emerging artists. Suggested donation $5.

This week’s concert on July 7 features Shawn Whynot, organ. Shawn is the director of music at Bethany United Church, a member of Réjouissance Baroque ensemble, and a well-known organ performer. Shawn’s concert is entitled Midday in the French Cathedral and will feature works by some of France’s most notable composers, including the celebrated “Third Choral in A minor” by César Franck. Following the performance everyone is invited to join Shawn at “Bud the Spud” in front of the library for French fries!

Featuring acrobatics, dance, gymnastics and music, Quidam tells the story about a young girl’s escape into a world of imagination. Revenues from the July 20 performance support Halifax Circus Circle, whose young athletes practice regularly at St. Matthew’s. Tickets for the benefit performance ($85) are available at the church office, 423-9209 or through Halifax Circus Circle, 830-3123.
