Topics of interest include: the state of the church; an invitation to aboriginal people to become signatories to the Basis of Union; revision of the United Church crest to reflect aboriginal spirituality; election of a new moderator (former St. Matt’s minister Rev. Dr. Ross Bartlett is one of 16 nominees); and a controversial report on Israel/Palestine.

Please pray for wisdom for all Commissioners to Council, and be strong and of good courage. There may be a lot of media interest in General Council, and some of it may be upsetting or confusing. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Betsy at stmatts.betsy@sympatico.ca
