Barbara Pritchard Concert Oct. 14
The inaugural concert of our new Yamaha grand piano will be presented by Barbara Pritchard on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 pm. Barbara, who is active in Halifax as an accompanist, chamber musician and solo pianist, specializes in performing music from the 20th and 21st centuries. Barbara studied music at the University of British Columbia, Ljungskile Folkhogskola (Sweden), Banff Centre for the Arts, and Eastman School of Music. For several years she was a faculty member in the Banff Centre’s New Music Residency program, and she has taught courses in 20th century piano music for Dalhousie University Department of Music.

Plan to attend and encourage friends to join you as we celebrate a new musical chapter at St. Matt’s. Tickets $20, available at the door or by calling 423-9209.

Brunswick Street Mission Breakfast – Thu., Oct. 18, 7:30 am–9 am, World Trade and Convention Centre. Keynote speaker: Theo Fleury, a former NHL All-Star, Stanley Cup winner, and Olympic gold medallist – Don’t Quit Before the Miracle. Theo tells about living hard at the top of the NHL, the crash that followed, and his comeback and redemption. This breakfast is a fundraiser for the Brunswick Street Mission, which makes a difference in the lives of those who struggle with poverty, homelessness, addictions and mental health disorders. By attending the breakfast you will help raise more than $100,000 to ensure that people in need have somewhere to turn. Cost for a table of 10 is $1,000, or $100 per ticket. There will likely be two tables of St. Matthew’s folks attending. Speak to Paul Bowlby or call 423-4605 to book your ticket.
