Coffee Party this Wednesday
St. Matthew’s will host a coffee party on Wed. Refreshments will be provided by members of the Pastoral Care team. If you would like to attend and need transportation, call the church office,  423-9209, or Jill Rafuse, 492-4523. The weather looks good but in case that changes, the event will be held on Thu. Jan. 16, same time, same place.

Women’s Breakfast Saturday
All women are invited to enjoy breakfast and good conversation on Saturday Jan. 18 at 8:30 am at Smitty’s at the corner of Spring Garden Road and Martello Street. Order from the menu, and enjoy having someone else do the washing-up.

St. Matthew’s hosts a skating party on Sunday
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is next week, and to kick things off St. Matthew’s is hosting a skating party at the Oval for the congregations on the peninsula. Come to the public skate at the Oval at 1 pm on Sunday Jan. 19 and enjoy the fun. Skates and helmets are available for borrowing (you will need an ID for this) – and the city even has sleds for wheelchair users. If you are not a skater but would like to serve hot cocoa, please let Betsy know.

Winter Bible Study
Winter Bible study is held on Mondays from noon to 1 pm. The winter session is an eight-week study on the parables of Jesus, “Living the parables out loud.”

Sandwiches for Shelter
Jean Hattie is coordinating an effort to provide sandwiches for the Out of the Cold Shelter on Thursdays during the winter months. Volunteers are needed each week to provide two loaves of sandwiches, which can be delivered during the day. This is a tangible way for the congregation to support the Shelter that operates in our basement, offering a warm bed to 15 guests every night until April. If you can make sandwiches, please find Jean at coffee hour and choose a convenient date.

Thanks to ...
All who generously brightened the Christmas season for many by giving warm clothing, socks, hats, mitts, toiletries and other gifts for Out of the Cold and Phoenix Shelter guests; by buying and delivering poinsettias; by bringing cookies for Christmas Breakfast; by preparing Christmas Breakfast; and by supporting the Anonymous Couple’s matching-donation challenge. All these contributed to an excellent end to 2013.

Church Calendars
Church calendars are available from the church office at a cost of $6.
