Lenten Calendar
Lent is the 40 days (minus Sundays) that precede Easter. It is a season of prayer and preparation, and reminds us of the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert before he began his ministry of teaching and healing. The traditional colour of Lent is purple, symbolizing repentance. Each week we will light a candle to mark the six invitations of the Season of Lent – Resistance, Responsibility, Trust, Repentance, Forgiveness, Faithfulness.

Women’s breakfast
All women, all ages, are invited to breakfast at Smitty’s on Spring Garden Road at Martello (Tower Rd.) on Saturday, Mar. 29 at 8:30 am. Order from the menu and enjoy a leisurely breakfast and good conversation.

Runners United
Runners United is back in 2014!  This is the perfect opportunity to get in shape while raising money for the Mission and Service Fund. The Stewardship Committee of Maritime Conference is once again sponsoring a team for the BlueNose Marathon races this May. Participants can run or walk in any of the race distances:  5km, 10km, half marathon (21.1km) or the full marathon (42.2km).  All you have to do is walk or run to get in shape and ask your friends, family members and church members to sponsor you to raise money for M&S.  All the fundraising is done through the Marathon, which means that it can be done online as well as by cash or cheque. For each of the last two years we've raised $13,000. Help us break our record! If you're interested in participating or want more information contact Keltie van Binsbergen sjminister<atsymbol>eastlink.ca, 868-2791 or Laura Hunter lhunter<atsymbol>marconf.ca
