•  The handbell ringers of AcabellA for their leadership in music on Sunday – Pember Edwards, Margaret Arklie, Janice Worthen, Jean Hattie, Jan Stephenson, Dora Stinson, Shirley McInnes, Jane Lee, Gail Jay, Allan Lee, Tom Fraser, and Mora Stevens. Substitute ringers are Molly Austen and Phyllis Orlik, and Tim Covert is on leave.

Kirk Life
Copies of our congregational newsletter are available at the door of the sanctuary. Yours may be labelled – please check! – but there are loose copies for all who are interested. Kirk Life is also available in PDF format by email. If you did not receive an electronic copy but would like one, please contact the office.

Shelter closing Wednesday
This season’s closing night for the Out of the Cold Shelter will be April 30. Assistance with the cleanup after the closure would be appreciated. If you can help, please email donations4otcs@gmail.com

Rachel graduates May 3
Rachel Campbell, our student intern, will be receiving her Master of Divinity degree at the Atlantic School of Theology convocation on May 3 at 11 am. All are invited to celebrate with her at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 45 Radcliffe Drive.

Sunday May 18 Special guests
We welcome into worship the mass choir and youth choirs of PODIUM 2014, the national choral festival being held in Halifax this year. A conference choir with singers from across Canada and the US will provide fine choral music for the worship service. We also welcome the Runners United, who will join us after their Bluenose Marathon runs in support of the United Church’s Mission and Service Fund.

Support Michelle Jensen in Runners United
The Stewardship Committee of Maritime Conference is sponsoring a team for the BlueNose Marathon races this May. The team will raise money for the Mission & Service Fund of the United Church.  Michelle Jensen of St. Matthew’s is participating in the 10 km run and welcomes your donations. If you would like to contribute to Runners United / M&S by supporting her, please give your donation to Michelle in person after church one Sunday or contact her at woodengiant@hotmail.com. If you're interested in participating or want more information contact Keltie van Binsbergen sjminister@eastlink.ca, 868-2791 or Laura Hunter lhunter@marconf.ca

Doors Open Halifax
St. Matthew's will be a venue for this year's Doors Open Halifax on June 7–8. This annual event opens to the public various historic buildings around the city for tours.
