This is Tips No.5 provided byThe EarthSpiritAction group in support of St Matthew’s motion “to reduce the use of plastic in the activities of the church”.
History:
The petroleum industry is primarily responsible for climate change and solely responsible for the plastic crisis. As more sustainable energy sources are developed, oil producers are shifting to the plastic industry. It is time for us, as consumers, to speak out.
Good News:
With the Federal Court of Appeal’s ruling in favour of the federal government’s Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), the federal government has the authority to regulate, prevent, and control plastic pollution from manufacturing and use, and has the right to act proactively to protect people and the planet.

Monday, March 16: As you reduce the plastic in your home, remember to ‘Reduce, Recycle’ as ‘Reusing’ is detrimental to your health.
Tuesday, March 17: Write to your MP to encourage the Federal Government to implement effective policies that help curb plastic production and pollution.
Wednesday, March 18: Many sweaters are made with acrylic, another plastic-based fibre that releases microplastics when washed. Begin to replace these items with 100% wool sweaters.
Thursday, March 19:. Check out Boyd’s on Agricola Street for plastic-free items.
Friday, March 20: Think of what materials can replace plastic to help you in the purchasing of non-plastic items.
Saturday, March 21: Speak out about the use of plastic with awareness and kindness..
Sunday, March 22: Take pictures of plastic items that you are eliminating from your home.
